This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department for International Trade (DIT) Overseas team. one of Whitehall’s newest departments. As Financial Professional Business Services (FPBS) Strategy Director and Minister Counsellor, you will lead the implementation and further development of a country wide strategy that focuses on matching China’s needs with UK strengths. This is crucial to achieving the change in approach that Ministers are driving for. 

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate evidence of: 
  • A detailed understanding and experience of working at a strategic level, with or in, the Financial Professional Business Services sector; 
  • An excellent track record of strategic thinking and analytical ability; 
  • Personal gravitas with a proven ability to be a trusted advisor to seniors up to Ministerial or Board level; 
  • Outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to connect to people at all levels, able to motivate, inspire and empower a diverse team in a complex changing, and dynamic environment; 
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills with experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, up to the Board / Ministerial level across organisational boundaries;

While it is not essential, an understanding of the Chinese financial system and prior knowledge of, or exposure to, China, is highly desirable.

Skills & Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in communications. • Native English speaker with excellent communication skills.

• Good understanding of digital, including of mainstream western social media channels, SEO and Google analytics.

• Good research and analytical skills. • An eye for detail to ensure high copy editing standards.

The Company
Qing Yan Education Group (founded in 2003 to teach English to Secondary School children - now has two kindergartens, a private primary school & secondary school with over 30,000 students registering annually.
The Role Teaching English language speaking and listening  to students (4yrs - 15yrs) using the curriculum designed by Qing Yan Education Group • Carrying out teaching, learning and assessment activities • Working 5 days per week, about 5 hours per day • Helping the English department to develop and enhance the English curriculum
